Ard-Rocket II’s 2025 Season Begins with a Wild Ride at Tailem Bend

Picture
The ominous dark clouds rolling in on the morning of May 17 set the tone for a wet and wild start to Ard-Rocket II’s first official race of the 2025 UniSA Australian HPV Super Series at Tailem Bend’s Shell V-Power Motorsport Park.
Just as the grid began to form, the rain really set in. With water pooling across the track and visibility dropping, it was a challenging start for all teams. Despite the conditions, our riders held their nerve and pushed through, steadily climbing the leaderboard with some determined riding.
Unfortunately, our momentum was interrupted early in the 6-hour endurance race when a bump from another trike caused our vehicle to roll. One of our brave riders was sent to the medics for a check-up, and the trike needed some quick repairs in the pits. Thankfully, both rider and vehicle came through with just a few bumps and bruises!
With the rain clearing, our team was back in action. Returning members were eager to improve on last year’s times and they did! Meanwhile our new riders hit the track with enthusiasm and delivered some outstanding laps. But what stood out most was the way our team supported each other through every challenge in true
Ard-Rocket II spirit.
We wrapped up the day finishing 154th overall and an impressive 15th in our category. This was a solid result and a great start to the season. Now we’re looking forward to our next race at Victoria Park on Friday, June 13. Bring it on!
Huge thanks to everyone who's backed our Pedal Prix team as we seriously couldn’t do this without you!
To our awesome sponsors: your support has helped us gear up, get on the track, and push ourselves further. Thank you for backing our goals, and being part of the team behind the team. We’re proud to ride with your names on our side both literally and figuratively!

A Safety Reminder for Parents and Caregivers

Please refrain from walking through the staff car park, as it poses a safety risk.
Many parents and children use the area as a thoroughfare before and after school and in the past there have been some near misses between people walking through and cars backing out.
For the safety of all students, families, and staff, we kindly ask that you use the school footpaths and designated school crossing at all times when entering or exiting the school grounds.

Volunteers Needed

Monday, June 2 is Pancake Day at Ardtornish Primary School.
Funds raised will go to Uniting Care Wesley Bowden (UCWB), an organisation that supports our school community through small group work and short term counselling services.
We are seeking volunteers to assist with cooking and serving pancakes from 10:30 am - 1:30 pm on Monday, June 2.
Are you a registered volunteer with our school and free to help? (if you're not a registered volunteer at the school or are unsure please contact the front office)
Please complete the form below to register.

Please note Room 19 Year 2 students will be swimming with the primary students next term.

Swimming for our junior primary classes will be held at The ARC, Campbelltown from Tuesday 24 - Friday 27 June 2025.  The lessons this year are over a four day period and will consist of four one hour lessons.  Swimming is linked to the Physical Education Curriculum.

Rooms 23 and 24 - 11.30pm-12.30pm
Rooms 20, 21 and 22 - 12.30pm-1.30pm
Rooms 26 and 27 - 1.30pm-2.30pm

The cost is $40.00 (gst free) for the four days.  The charge includes entrance fees to the pool, equipment levy and bus fare.  The cost is determined on the understanding that all students who initially indicate that they will be having swimming lessons will attend all sessions.  As such no refunds will be available unless for unforeseen circumstances.  In the case of unforeseen circumstances, refund for pool entrance only can be given.

Would you like to volunteer with your child’s class for swimming? Make sure you have your Working with Children Check and have a current RRHAN-EC Certificate. Please contact the front office if you need to apply or to check on your current clearances.

The Department for Education water safety program is designed to maximise the benefit of the time available. The program provides a water safety learning pathway to engage, challenge and support students to
  • Become confident and safe in aquatic environments
  • Develop skills, knowledge and understanding directly related to water safety – survival and rescue skills
  • Explore, evaluate and make sound decisions about their own safety and the safety of others in aquatic environments

On Thursday 22nd May the school body assembled in the JP Play Area at 10 a.m. for the official opening of our new buildings and play spaces, by Minister Boyer.
Students sat respectfully while speeches were given by Mr Hansen and Mr Boyer and a beautiful performance was given by our Festival Choir.
Construction of the buildings had begun in November of 2020 when 10 classes moved into temporary buildings on the JP Oval and demolitions began.
The project which was originally supposed to take 8 months stretched to 20 months due to covid and design changes. In July of 2022 classes moved into the completed buildings to begin Term 3 with fantastic new facilities.
The reinstatement of the oval then took place and now with the offical opening, we can consider the project completed.
Mr Boyer toured the building and was impressed by the learning he saw students undertaking and the behaviours they exhibited.
Pictured are Minister Blair Boyer, Annabella and Arjun (SRC members), Corinne Walding ( Previous GC Chairperson), Olivia Savvas (MP for Newland) and Mark Hansen.

This term Room 24, students have dived into the exciting world of Digital Technologies. Students have explored key concepts such as systems, inputs and outputs, processes, digital systems, and data inputs.

The learning tasks are hands-on and collaborative, with students thoroughly enjoying working together as they engage in discussions and practical activities. See their curiosity and problem-solving skills in action is wonderful.

Room 24 was proud to receive the Golden Bin Award for having the cleanest area in the school! The students were incredibly excited and took great pride in their efforts to keep our classroom tidy and respectful of our shared space. Their commitment to cleanliness and teamwork truly paid off—well done, Room 24!
