Maths Mentors Supporting LearningStarting last term our enthusiastic Year 4 students stepped up to become maths mentors for our Year 2 students and the results have been outstanding. Seeing their interactions is heartwarming and inspiring.
Every day, for a 15-minute session, our Year 4 mentors work closely with their Year 2 buddies on a range of foundational math skills. These sessions focus on key skills such as subitising, addition to 10 and 20, the engaging, "I want to be a 10" game, subtraction under 10 and 20, and skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s. These skills are crucial for building a strong mathematical foundation, and our Year 4 students mentors are making a significant difference as they show incredible dedication and patience, helping their younger peers feel successful and confident in their math abilities. The Year 2 students are both improving their skills and also developing a greater love for learning mathematics. This mentorship program is a fantastic example of peer learning and the positive impact it can have. Our Year 4 students are not only reinforcing their own knowledge by teaching but also learning important skills such as role modeling, effective communication, and empathy. They are becoming excellent leaders and role models and we are proud of all the students involved and look forward to continuing this successful program. National Child Protection Week – September 1 – 7 2024This year National Child Protection Week will continue to champion the message ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’. This message will be complemented with the theme ‘Every conversation matters’. Conversations are powerful tools to keep children and young people safe and well.

Being a Dad – Parenting SA Workshops
Being a dad is one of the most rewarding and important roles dads can have in life. These days there is greater flexibility in what each parent does and more sharing of the parenting role. While parenting can be done by either parent, children have unique experiences with their dad and their mum. Children benefit when dads are warm, loving and involved in their lives. Parenting SA are offering free Being a Dad workshops, click on the link below for more information. Families Growing Together Workshop Calendar. Please pay any outstanding accounts as soon as possible. If you require a payment plan, contact Cathy in Finance, 82648099. [email protected]
If you are interested in playing cricket for Ardtornish in Term 4 please read on!
The SACA Primary School Cricket program will be open for nominations soon. Competitions are offered in the below competitions and if we get enough interest and a team coach/manager, we will nominate and support teams to compete where possible. The competition usually runs from weeks 2-7/8
The school can provide all safety equipment as needed. There is a small cost involved to cover the costs of comp balls. In 2025 we are also looking to include indoor cricket in the winter season on Tuesday evenings. If you are continuing at Ardtornish next year and would like information about this competition, also indicate that on your email. Looking forward to hearing from you [email protected] |
