School Sport SA: making a significant contribution to students’ physical social and emotional learning

School Sport SA (formally SAPSASA), through the coordination, development, and delivery of quality school sport programs, that align with the Australian Health and Physical Education Curriculum, support the learning needs of students in years 4 to 12.
Ardtornish Primary takes full advantage of the programs, School Sport SA provides, because we understand the valuable role that participating in sports and especially team sports, plays in developing student’s confidence, resilience and sense of wellbeing. Being willing to take on competitive and physical challenges, assists students to learn how to win and lose in a gracious and positive manner and build physical, personal and interpersonal skills.

State Softball Carnival Report by Max Janicki and Jude Hartzenberg

This term in week 8 on Friday March 18th, three teams, two boy’s teams, and one girls’ team competed in the softball carnival at the Golden Grove Dodgers District Baseball Club against other district schools.

The boy's blue team tied for first place undefeated and the girls team also finished in first place. You can see their trophies in our front office. The boys red team won three of their matches and drew the last match placing them in second place.  All of our teams went extremely well. The girls’ team coached by Mrs. Hall, there was Maddison H, Jade J, Jessica G, Erin F, Mikaela B, and Tamara J, and luckily we had some fill-ins for the girls from Wynn Vale, Olivia U, Amelia M, and Ruby K.
Everyone had a fantastic time and enjoyed themselves. We are very grateful that so many people could come to this wonderful event, and we are hoping more people will play softball next year as well.

We would like to thank all the teachers for training us in the lead up to the carnival and for looking after us all day, everyone who assisted with transport, coaches for teaching us how to play, Golden Grove Dodgers District baseball club for allowing us to play softball on their club grounds, and the umpires for being great throughout the entire day.

Room 4B – applying our developing skills in a practical fun manner!
4B students have been working diligently this term and are proud of all their achievements. They have striven to become the best learners they can, while also looking out for each other.

This week students have made their own Easter baskets, and in the process used their knowledge of measurement, folding, craft work and design to complete a practical task. Now everyone is hoping that the Easter Bunny will pay us a visit soon......
