Volunteering or Representing our school
is a rewarding experience for all involved!

Picture
Ian London and John Tagell, two great volunteers, who kindly coach our softball players.
There are many school activities that cannot occur without the help of volunteers, for example we rely on parents and carers for coaching and the transportation of students to and from the vast array of sporting activities we offer at our school. Volunteers who shelve hundreds of books in our library each week, they provide the library staff with support time that allows them to focus more on teaching and improving resources for both students and teachers.

Everyone involved in community events, particularly sports, are encouraged to represent themselves and our school in a positive light by adhering to an agreed Code of Behaviour. Students are asked to sign and acknowledge these agreements when joining school teams. Because this code is taken seriously, Ardtornish has become known for always participating in both a competitive and fair manner. We have high expectations for all involved, players, coaches, parents and spectators. When you are asked to read and sign our Code of Behaviour with your child, please take the time to unpack each section, talk about what it might mean in the situation you are signing up for and role model the appropriate choices that we outline, at all times. The code is displayed inside this newsletter.

As we invite you on site for Sports Day, at the end of this term, keep these things in mind. Be passionate, but set a good example. Encourage your child to play by the rules and if they fail to win, ‘Bounce Back,’ as our school values encourage them to do. Make sure everyone enjoys the day, and the activities, in a fair and courteous manner.
This ensures we can all enjoy the event and rebuild the community atmosphere that we have been missing during the pandemic.

What a great camp experience Arbury Park was, it was packed with 3 days of hiking, orienteering, searching for evidence, team activities, shelter building and so much more.
The rain tried to dampen spirits but with true Ardtornish style the kids adjusted and made Arbury Park 2022 one of the best camps ever!
The great manners and positive attitudes from all the Ardtornish students were noticed by all.
Thankyou to Erin’s Mum, Melissa for making the yummy Arbury Park cookies.
